Request File copy link
Previously when I request file by copying link, I will paste it in my email. The hyperlink is the name of the folder I copied from which is nicely display. Then this week, it is copying the url link. Another colleague did the exact same thing and he is getting the nicely name folder hyperlink. I tested it with a copy of people and got a mixture of results. Anyone experiencing this? I have a user that claims that the situation has changed when overwriting a pdf file in a library. The situation is the following: A library with pdf files and custom managed meta data properties on a file. When overwriting the existing file the user expect that the new file adopts the managed meta data values from the old file. My own brain processes this as that not possible because you overwrite a existing file with no managed meta data. But i could be wrong. What do the SharePoint pro's think?
Column Descriptions hidden behind Choices in Quick Edit (Bug)
We logged the below support ticket with Microsoft (a bug) and according to them, it's by design :/ Context: When you are in Quick Edit View, you can't see the Column Description until you click on the field. The bug arises for Choice, Lookup or Managed Metadata columns as the Column Description is hidden behind the choices (Remember the description only shows when you click on the field - which expands the choices) - so you can't see the description at all for those types of columns. Microsoft have come back twice now saying that it's by design - and even further, they said it meets Accessibility Standards (really). We are getting Microsoft too frequently responding to our tickets saying what are clearly "bugs" are "by design" and when we press them further, they eventually admit it's a bug and look to address it. For the one below, am I just missing something, or do others see this clearly as a bug? Note: The Colors column has a description (but it's hidden behind the choices).
Choice column - have any limits changed
We have a document library we've been using for quite a while now that has, among others, a choice column. In the past we've been able to select as many options as we need from this column without hitting any limits, but within the last two weeks we've started receiving an error that the column cannot have more than 255 characters. Has something changed recently? We have records saved in this document library that have far more options selected for this column than what we are trying to select for these latest records, and we were able to save these without error.
Library with check out required now can't give edit access
Hi, Is it correct that a document library where check out is required to edit a document means that it is no longer possible to click the Share icon for a specific document and give a person edit access? Of course to edit the document they would have to check it out, but surely a user with their own Edit permissions or Full Control permissions should be able to give another user Edit permissions. We need to maintain the check out a document to edit it as people were accidently creating drafts all the time. Any advice, confirmation of this is the correct behaviour and not a bug appreciated. Hi Experts, Good day, I would like to create new reports in Google data studio (Google Analytics), with the data source coming from SharePoint. I need to import site access user counts, including the number of views and counts. I know that we can export this data via the Microsoft 365 Compliance Center, but my client does not allow tenant access due to data privacy concerns. Could you please advise on how we can achieve this? Specifically, I need to collect SharePoint document and file access user details daily and connect this data to Google Analytics on daily basis. I have a user who is in an owners group on his SharePoint and he no longer can approve/deny versions of documents. There is nothing extra added to the libraries and he is the only user who cannot approve documents. I have tried removing him completely from the site and readding him and giving him site admin permissions. Are there any other steps to try to remedy this? The document library is massive with over 100,000 items. I think this could be the reason as the site owners just put random folders everywhere but again this one user is the only one with the issue.
