Addai-Robinson plays Queen Regent Míriel in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Amazon Prime Video’s prequel to Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies. In honor of the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, we played a game of Lord of the Rings trivia as part of STYLECASTER’s “Watch This Space” digital destination. 

In her September 2022 cover story for STYLECASTER, Addai-Robinson revealed that she auditioned for another The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power character before she was cast as Queen Míriel. “It was Bronwyn. But what’s amazing about the casting is everyone who inhabits their character truly has the essence of that character. I cannot imagine anyone but Naz (Nazanin Boniadi) in that role,” she said. “You have to trust when things ultimately don’t go your way, there’s a reason for that. I had to have that moment of everything happens for a reason.”

She continued, “What’s been beautiful is when the role of Míriel came to me, I didn’t know what it was going to entail. I didn’t know much about the character. They had kept all of the character names a secret. They had coded names and the auditions were just made-up sides. Once I saw what I was going to get to do with Míriel, it did feel fated. It felt like this is the role I’m supposed to play. This is the person that I’m supposed to inhabit. It all did work out as it was meant to work out.”

She also discussed how she thinks Rings of Power is different from The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit moves fans have come to know and love. “Most people are familiar with Tolkien’s adaptations in terms of the Peter Jackson films. That’s the Third Age. For our series, we’re setting the Second Age, which spans thousands of years. This is the first time we are showing what Númenor looks like.”

She continued, “There are a lot of aspects of the show that are going to be new to viewers for the first time, and things that are going to be familiar. We’re familiar with elves. We’re familiar with dwarves. But because we’re thousands of years before. We’re in a time of relative peace. We’re in a time of relative prosperity. There’s so much that happens from where our series starts, and where it will ultimately end. Even if you’ve never read Tolkein or seen any of the previous films, you could be completely new to this and you could understand and enjoy the story. It’s not a prerequisite to have seen or read anything in advance.”

How did you find out you got the part?

Oh, [laughs] I have a story. Let me preface this by saying I prank my manager and agent all the time. We prank each other. I’ve been with my agent since I was 10 years old. And my manager had been with us since I was 13 or 14. So we’re very, very close, like best friends. So anyway, I auditioned, I read the script and I loved it. I met with Mike Barker, who’s the director and I was slowly falling in love with the project. I didn’t really talk about the fact that I loved it so much because it was a little bit scary to get my heart broken. I had another meeting with Mike and they wanted me to audition again. A couple of days later, I get a call from my agent and my manager and they’re like, “Hey, so turns out they’re actually canceling your audition.” I said, “What? They’re canceling my audition?” and they say, “Yeah, they’ve found their girl.” My heart was shattered. I’m a bit angry about it at this point. And then they say, “Because that girl is you.” And I burst into tears. There ended up being like 10 of my team members, and my mom, listening on the phone.

What was your first day on set?

We had a pretty intense first couple of days, to say the least. We dove in headfirst. On the first day of filming, we started with the shooting sequence. For the first and second days, we worked through the shooting sequence and then we moved on to working on the sexual assault scenes on the third and fourth days.

Wow, so just like that, one after the other. How do you prepare for those scenes mentally?

I don’t think you can necessarily, but I would also never work on something like this or be a part of something where I didn’t feel so safe and so comfortable. And I did. Part of the reason I wanted to work on this project is that every single person involved is truly incredible and amazing at what they do. Mike spent so much time talking to me, and so did Jessica and Mila. They spent a lot of time having all the kids connect as well and get to know one another. That really encouraged this healthy and supportive work environment, which is honestly rare. It’s so rare. I’ve worked on other projects that have that supportive environment as well, but especially because we were filming during COVID, people can get split up and so you’re not able to get that much time together. Our set was like a warm blanket. A lot of women and people everywhere are dealing with kind of some of the issues and topics that we touched on in the movie.

How do you then come down from shooting scenes like this? What would you do at the end of each day?

I have a really good supportive family and friend group, so it was pretty easy to go home and chill out with them and watch a movie; be able to disconnect and resolve the day here. And to remember I’m dealing with different things than Ani is and we’re different people. It can be challenging at times, but I think it was alright.

Part of the reason I wanted to work on this project is that every single person involved is truly incredible and amazing at what they do.

You and Mila share the fact that you started in this industry as children. Did she give you any guidance or advice for navigating Hollywood?

We chatted a lot. We talked a lot about the character. She made herself very available and she’s lovely. Seeing her as a human is guidance. Honestly, she is one of the kindest, most generous people I’ve ever met in my entire life. And you meet her as a human and you discover that she’s a better human than she is an actress. There’s something to be said about just being able to witness and watch someone’s behavior and how they are, and how much elegance and grace she has.

Thursday Night Football—often abbreviated as TNF—was acquired by Amazon Prime Video in 2021 after the streaming service signed an 11-year, $13 billion deal to become the exclusive provider for the event. “Live sports continue to be a game changer for Prime members,” Amazon Prime Vice President Jamil Ghani said in a release. at the time. “The value Prime brings to members is now even better with the launch of Thursday Night Football on Prime Video. With these exclusive offers and experiences, Prime members score big savings and get even greater access – all with a single membership.”

The deal makes Amazon Prime Video the first streaming service to secure an exclusive national broadcast package with the NFL. “‘Thursday Night Football’ will be our first-ever digital package and we are thrilled to exclusively partner with Amazon to bring our games to more fans on more platforms. NFL football drives passionate viewers and Amazon will enable us to continue to grow our fanbase in innovative and compelling ways,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodel said in a press release.

There was only one way I was going to find out—by comparing the story of my actual Mercury retrograde experience with what my Mercury retrograde horoscope predicted for zodiac sign. If my own story lines up with what my zodiac sign is supposed to experience, then it will confirm my long-held suspicion that astrology is always on point. 

This particular retrograde cycle started on September 9, 2022, beginning its backwards journey at 8 degrees Libra, the zodiac sign of harmony, friendship and romance. It also came to an end on October 2 at 24 degrees Virgo, a zodiac sign that loves organizing and planning. Mercury itself is the planet of technology, communication, brainpower and travel. When retrograde, all mental processes are famous for going completely haywire. Missed connections, missed appointments and the reappearances of long-lost people from the past are likely. I don’t know about you, but I’ve definitely felt the shakeups in my personal life throughout this Mercury retrograde cycle.

It’s important to get through this period by taking it slow, double checking any contracts or conversations you have and maintaining flexibility. Taking things in stride is key! Reflecting, realizing and re-assessing is the name of the game. Although that’s easier said than done, here’s how I managed to fare during my Mercury retrograde experience:

I had a stressful last week of August dealing with some majorly emotionally charged moments. My boyfriend flew back to New York after we spent weeks together, so my separation anxiety for the first few days was kicking in. Meanwhile, I had my inner child triggered by my mom in San Francisco, which led me to drive back down to Los Angeles two days earlier than intended from my parent’s house. I also ended up ditching a wedding I wasn’t really supposed to be at anymore (long story) at the last minute, since I was anxious and crying about it for a week straight. Protect your energy!

Meanwhile, my boyfriend was going through an extremely exhausting week at work and had little energy to communicate or even eat! Luckily, I dissolved my own selfish thoughts and ordered him a surprise dinner, which aided in assuaging any temporary hard feelings.

What Actually Happened

Talk about rehashing old issues! While I’m currently in Los Angeles minding my business, my boyfriend goes to a production studio opening with a mutual friend in Manhattan on the 15th. While they were leaving, this “creepy and weird guy” (to quote my boyfriend) was hitting on one of the females in the group, so my gracious partner said hello to the other man before grabbing the girl back to their original crew. Afterwards at a bar, everyone agreed on how strange the guy was… which turned out to be my toxic ex-boyfriend. 

Having my current lovely boo meet my ex while I’m on the other side of the country is not something I would have anticipated, but looks like Mercury is testing my limits to see how I handle my rough past colliding with my present. Luckily, my boyfriend (despite feeling icky) was able to communicate this incident to me, and I ended up loving him even more than I did in the first place.

Oh and how could I forget? After a weekend of light fun and havoc for a friend’s birthday in Las Vegas, my Instagram gets hacked the morning of the 19th as we were checking out of the Venetian. If you ever want all the distasteful people in your past that you forgot about to reach out and ask if it’s really you asking for one hundred dollars over DMs… well, get your Instagram compromised by a bad scammer. I can tell you based on my plans for October 2 and onwards that my best friend, who I’ve known since middle school, is visiting me in Los Angeles this weekend. I haven’t seen her since May and we have some discussions on her dating and personal life in the pipeline, I’m sure of it. Between the two of us, we have quite a few places in the city to hit up and check out. 

Then, on October 7, I’m flying back to New York for about a month to reunite with my boyfriend! I suppose love really does attract more love and my romantic life will once again heat up while we are in the same city again.

What’s The Verdict?

Although Mercury retrograde’s nefarious reputation can appear frightening on the surface, it’s more than possible to reach the other side feeling better than before. Think of Mercury retrograde as a mandated pause on any huge life decisions. It’s a great time to re-evaluate aspects of your lifestyle and revamp what isn’t serving you any longer. After all, time takes time! Rushing through everything can only make your process that much sloppier. It’s shocking how real this Mercury retrograde felt and how much it truly impacted my life this time around. However, in order to get through a retrograde cycle, I have cultivated the philosophy to sit back and laugh at every awkward moment. There’s no need to take everything so seriously. Mercury certainly isn’t!

Tom and Gisele met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend in 2006. “I think the one phone call that changed my life was my friend Ed, who called me one day and he said, ‘I have this girl and I think you should call her,’ ” Tom recalled to WSJ magazine in 2021 about how he was introduced to Gisele. “I ended up calling her and it ended up being the love of my life.” The two started dating soon after but hit a tough patch in February 2007 when Tom’s ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan, announced she was pregnant with his son. Gisele told CBS This Morning in 2008 that she considered breaking up with Tom after the news. “It was a challenging thing because here I am, you know, thinking, I’m dating this guy, we met, and we started dating and everything is great and then this happens,” she said. “So, then I felt like I didn’t know what to do. It was kind of one of those moments of like, ‘Do I just run away?’

Fast forward to October 2022, and news broke that Tom and Gisele had hired divorce lawyers after more than a decade of marriage. So what is Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s prenup and how could it affect their wealth? Read on for what we know about Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s prenup and what could happen to their finances when they divorce.

What is Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s prenup?

What is Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s prenup? While the exact details of Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s prenup aren’t known, a source told Radar Online in June 2022, that those close to Gisele encouraged her to update her prenup with Tom months before the couple separated. “The current prenup is pretty ironclad and lists how everything will be divided should they break up, but it needs to be updated and it can be if both parties agree,” the insider said at the time. The source continued, Gisele is rich in her own right, but her friends are telling her she’d be nuts not to revise their prenup and she’s likely to listen to them.” Tom is worth $250 million, with $30 million earned each year, while Gisele is worth $400 million, with $40 million earned each year, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Page Six reported in October 2022 that Tom and Gisele had hired divorce lawyers after their separation following a fight over Tom’s unretirement and decision to return to the NFL three months after he announced he had retried from football. “I never actually thought this argument would be the end of them, but it looks like it is,” a source told Page Six at the time. “I don’t think there will be any coming back now. They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be.”

A source also told People at the time that Tom was “trying to figure out what to do” after he learned Gisele had hired a divorce lawyer. A source also told Us Weekly at the time that Gisele—who was “living apart” from tom when she hired her divorce lawyer and had been “at odds” with her husband for months—was waiting for him to make a “big gesture” after he learned she was serious about divorce. “Gisele is waiting for Tom to make a big gesture of support to her,” the insider said.

Attorney Sue Moss with Chemtob Moss Forman & Beyda LLP, who is not connected to the case, also told People in October 2022 that Gisele and Tom’s different incomes could make their divorce complicated. “The big challenge for him is everything will be determined at the height of his income, because to get him to come back, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to come up with a lot of cash — and that is the baseline for determining the support in this case,” Moss said. “At the beginning, Gisele was earning more than him, and he kept on winning and his income got more and more substantial and it outgrew hers. And because of the timing, the case will be determined based upon the height of earnings.”

Divorce attorney Jacqueline Newman of Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein LLP, who is also not connected to the case, also told People that Tom and Gisele’s prenup has likely already determined what their finances will look like after their divorce. “People of this magnitude of wealth don’t generally get married without a document that’s going to dictate what’s going to happen if it doesn’t run its course,” Newman said. “My guess is that a lot of this is already worked out. So, there’s probably a prenuptial agreement that’s going to dictate a lot of this, but if there are some properties that were purchased while they were married — marital residences — there may be fights about that.” Newman continued, “There probably were assets that were acquired during the marriage, so there may be squabbles about that to say the least. That said, I think they are going to settle this, assuming they go forward with it — outside of the press.”

At the time they hired divorce lawyers, Tom and Gisele owned at least four properties: a house at the Yellowstone Resort in Montana, a $3.5 million apartment in New York City, a home in Costa Rica; and the $17 million mansion tin Miami’s Indian Creek Island. While Tom and Gisele’s finances are complicated, Newman told People at the time that custody of their children could be more if an issue. “It really does seem that [Gisele] has dedicated her life to these children,” Newman said. “I’m sure he is dedicated to the children, but he travels a lot. He’s not involved as much in the day to day. She may want more stability for them.” Newman continued, “The worst thing they could do is pull their kids through a custody battle.”

News of issues in Tom and Gisele’s relationship started in September 2022 when Page Six reported the couple was in a “fight” over the NFL player’s decision to unretire from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2022. (Tom announced his retirement from the NFL after 22 years in February 2022 before reversing that decision less than two months later.) “Tom and Gisele are in a fight right now,” a source told Page Six in September 2022. The insider added that there have been a “series of heated arguments” since Tom’s unretirement.

A second source explained that Gisele’s issue with Tom’s decision to unretire was the lack of time he would spend with their children: son Benjamin and daughter Vivian. Tom also shares son Jack with ex Bridget Moynahan. “There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids. They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, then he changed his mind,” the insider said. A third source added, “They have a fiery relationship. Gisele is a bit hot-headed — she has that Brazilian heat!” The insider, however, added that Tom has always been a “family man,” regardless of if he’s in the NFL or not. “He’s such a doting dad, and very much a family man,” the source said.

The publication’s second source also claimed that Gisele has been working more—she’s the face of a new Burberry campaign—since Tom’s decision to unretire. “It’s almost like Gisele was like, ‘Well, if you’re going to keep playing, so will I,’” the insider said. “She’s resentful that Tom is still the football superstar.”

A source also told People in September 2022 that Gisele was “frustrated” with Tom and had “been spending time away from” him. “Going back to Tampa after the retirement put a strain on the personal side of his life,” the source said. “Gisele is frustrated and sick of his career coming before their family, who has always supported him.” The magazine also reported that Tom and Gisele spending time apart from each other “has happened before” and that the two are “trying” to make their relationship work. “There is a point Gisele believes that enough is enough,” a second source said. “[She has] always been an amazing wife, totally supporting Tom and his career and bringing the kids aboard.

A third source told People that Gisele is “not a stay-at-home mom.” The insider continued, “She has been working all along. She’s in N.Y.C. right now working, and the kids are enrolled in school in Florida.” The source also reported that Tom and Gisele had a “happy summer together” before the 2022 NFL season and Gisele threw Tom “a big birthday party in Italy.” “He already announced his return to football this spring, so friends don’t understand why she’s upset now,” the insider said. “They’ve been very private about what’s really going on,” the source added. A fourth source also claimed to People that Gisele’s opinion on Tom’s unretirement had changed closer to NFL season. “It feels very different this year than last year,” the insider said. “She was excited to be here, we saw her around.”

In an interview with Apple Music in May 2022, Styles explained that he made Harry’s House after he learned how to balance his life after the COVID-19 pandemic. “For a really long time, I was terrified of what my life was if I wasn’t up here doing music, on a show, doing something. And then you’re faced with a time when you can’t do that,” he said. “I kind of stopped for a second and looked at what I turned to listen to and what I was watching and all that kind of stuff and was like, ‘What does it actually mean to make something? He also explained the difference between touring as a solo artist and in a boy band. “It just felt so separate from any individual. It never felt like… You are never on stage being like, ‘Yeah, this stadium’s full because of me,'” he said. He continued of his own fans,“The crowd is so emotionally generous that they just want me to be having a good time, and I can feel that. Doing shows is my favorite thing to do in the world.”

Styles also credited Billie Eilish for re-inspiring his creativity. “I think being in the band, I’d always felt like we were really young… And I had a moment seeing [Billie] do this at such a young age where I felt like, ‘I’m not that young anymore.’ And for a while it was, how do you play that game of remaining exciting?” he said. Styles told Apple Music he was “thankful” for Eilish, saying she “broke the spell” of him overanlyzing his career decisions. “This is so unbelievably liberating to go, ‘I just want to make good music.’ That’s it. That’s what I want to do. And everything else is what it will be. And that’s kind of it,” he said.

He also told Apple Music about the inspiration for the title of his third album: Harry’s House. “I was kind of like, ‘I’d be really fun to make an album called Harry’s House,’ and thought about it being this smaller thing. And then it was back to that thing of, ‘Maybe that’s an album I’ll make in four years or five years or whatever.’ And as I started making the album, I realized it wasn’t about the geographical location. It’s much more of an internal thing,” he said. He described the sound of the album as “more electronic in a lot of places than anything I’ve made, it’s also so much more intimate to me.
