The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and the Victoria’s Secret model filed their divorce papers on October 29, 2022, after being married for over 13 years. The divorce was settled in Florida where the ex-couple resides. Tom posted an Instagram story with the caption, “In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve. “We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course painful, and difficult, like it is for so many people who go through the same thing everyday around the world. However, we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written. And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate in what comes in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you.”

Bridget Moynahan (2004 – 2006)

Tom Brady started dating actress Bridget Moynahan in early 2004 after Tom won his second Super Bowl for the New England Patriots and Bridget starred on the hit show Sex and the City. Together, they attended the 2006 Met Gala and the Vanity Fair Oscar Awards party. In a 60 Minutes interview, Tom revealed what Bridget meant to him in his relationship. “She’s helped a lot,” he said fondly. “I can be myself around her, and there’s not many people I can be myself around. It’s fun to be around your best friends who know you well, and she’s someone that I consider one of my very best friends.”

The two ended their relationship in December 2006. A rep told People at the time, “(They) amicably ended their three-year relationship several weeks ago. We ask for your respect and consideration of their privacy. No further comments will be made.” Three months later, Bridget was expecting Tom’s baby. “Bridget is over three months pregnant,” her rep said. “Former boyfriend Tom Brady is the father.” At the time, Tom started to date Gisele Bündchen. Bridget gave birth to John “Jack” Edward Moynahan in August 2007.

The Blue Bloods actress opened up about her complicated pregnancy with Tom’s baby. “[Tom] was there on that day and came in afterwards,” she told More magazine in 2011 about her labor. “He certainly wasn’t holding my hand while I pushed.” In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she also revealed how her mental health was affected during the time. “Going through that traumatic time of being heartbroken and then being pregnant turned my whole life upside down and inside out and just knocked the wind out of me,” she told the magazine. “But I got so much out of that … Now I have a child, and it’s the best thing in the world.” She continued, “I’m not sure anyone — and I could be wrong in this — grows up thinking, ‘I want to be a single mom’ … Doing it on your own when it wasn’t expected comes with a lot of fears and anxieties. But I felt 100 percent that I could do this.”

In the same More magazine interview, Bridget explained how she kept a blended family with Gisele and Tom. “I never made a comment about Gisele or Tom publicly,” she explained to the outlet. “I have a relationship with these people on a daily basis. I’m raising a child, and it’s public. The media creates these dramas, and that’s not what’s happening in my life. My son has two loving parents and an extended family, whether it’s cousins or stepmothers or boyfriends. My son is surrounded by love.”

During an appearance on the Howard Stern Show in April 2020, Tom confessed how he felt when he found out that Bridget was pregnant. “Next thing you know, I found out that Bridget was pregnant with our son,” he said. “So that was a very unique time … and it challenged me in a lot of ways, again, to grow up in a different way. And it was very challenging for my son’s mom, you know, because she didn’t envision that either.”

Tom started to date Gisele Bündchen in December 2006, shortly after his public breakup with Bridget Moynahan. In a Vanity Fair interview in 2009, Gisele opened up about how she met Tom. “I knew right way — the first time I saw him,” she recalled. “We met through a friend. The moment I saw him, he smiled and I was like, ‘That is the most beautiful, charismatic smile I’ve ever seen!’ We sat and talked for three hours. I had to go home for Christmas, but I didn’t want to leave. You know that feeling of, like, you can’t get enough? From the first day we met, we’ve never spent one day without speaking to each other.”

The two married in 2009 after three years of dating. When Tom’s ex Bridget Moynahan was pregnant with Tom’s baby while she was in a relationship with him, she recalled in her memoir, “Two months into our relationship, Tom told me that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant. I am never happier than when the temperature finally drops and the colors of fall come alive every time you step outside. But even though the start of fall signals the start of the holiday season, the real joy of this time of year comes from all the fashion trends that start popping up to serve the transitional weather. Fall street style 2022 trends take over my Instagram feed and my shopping cart, and I think I’ve finally narrowed down the top three trends I’m seeing that I’m obsessing over.

Of course, there’s a lot of black, which I’m a sucker for. Some things never change, even as the seasons do. But color is not the star of the trends in question here. This is more about the details. Think: New spins on things that are already in-style for autumn, like slouchy pants, leather bags and sweatshirts. Here are my favorite street style fall trends right now, and how to style them IRL.

Leather Bags that Look Like Leather Jackets

Have you ever seen a more beautiful and perfect bag? I have to say, unexpectedly this Rebecca Minkoff bag makes the perfect overnight bag. You can literally stuff outfit changes in here and it still has more room to give. I think it’s perfect for a day out in the city too, and would still make the perfect everyday work bag. I just took it to the coffee shop and my 13-inch Macbook fit perfectly inside.

2. Cut-out Lightweight Pants

I think these slouchy cut-out pants are the perfect transition pant for fall. It’s easy to find cut-out pants online, but many of them are skin-tight, which totally nixes the casual look that I’m going for these days.

I’m wearing Alo’s mid-rise showdown pant here, which are currently sold out, but there are some similar styles online. The reason I love Alo’s style so much is because of the material. It’s not a clingy legging material, so I feel less weird about the cutouts. It’s kind of like a wind-breaker material; loose without being baggy. I found a similar style that’s on sale and in stock at Dolls Kill below.

3. Cropped Fitted Sweatshirts

This by far has to be my favorite trend. I’m a crop top girl through and through and love the fitted look of this half-zip pull over from Aerie. It’s the perfect stone wash grey color, and I love that it has a “corset” bottom, which is basically kind of like an elastic waistband that gives the casual sweatshirt a more put-together feel. Plus the thumb holes make it feel extra cozy. Aerie literally never misses. You can grab this in a few different colors, too. Of course I’m wearing the Aerie super flare leggings here as well. At this point they’re basically like a second skin.

It sounds easy, but there are so many sales to comb through that it can get a tad overwhelming. Where do you go online? What’s on sale? Which retailers have the absolute best deals? We’re here to tell you not to worry, sis, because we’ve got you covered.

Moynahan, an actress best known for her role on Blue Bloods, dated Brady from 2004 to 2006. Moynahan’s representative confirmed their split to People, telling the magazine that the two broke up “amicably.” “[They] amicably ended their three-year relationship several weeks ago. We ask for your respect and consideration of their privacy,” the statement read. That same year, Brady started dating Bündchen, a Victoria’s Secret angel at the time, whom a mutual friend introduced him to on a blind date. “I knew right way–the first time I saw him,” the model told Vanity Fair in 2009, describing Brady’s “beautiful, charismatic smile” and how they talked for three hours.

A few months into Bündchen and Brady’s relationship, Moynahan announced that she was pregnant with Brady’s baby. She gave birth to their son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, in August 2007. Two years after his first child’s birth, Brady married Bündchen in a small wedding at St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, California. The two had a second wedding in Costa Rica a few months later. Bündchen and Brady welcomed their first child together, a son named Benjamin Rein, in 2009. Their second child, a daughter named Vivian Lake, was born in 2012.

In her interview with Vanity Fair, Bündchen opened up about the moment she learned that Moynahan was pregnant with Brady’s child. “In the beginning you’re living this romantic fantasy; you’re thinking, this can’t be true, it’s so good,” she said at the time. “And then, whoops—wake-up call! We were dating two and a half months when he found out, and it was a very challenging situation. Obviously, in the beginning, it’s not the ideal thing.” The model went on to reveal that she considered leaving Brady due to the situation. “You question at times–‘Should I stay here? Maybe you should work this out,'” she said.

However, as time went on, Brady, Bündchen and Moynahan found a way to make their family work. A source told Page Six in February 2021 that Moynahan and Bündchen now talk about as often as Brady and his ex. “Tom and I made a decision to raise a child together and we both found partners that not only supported us in raising that child, but also loved our child as if he was their own,” Moynahan told People in 2019. “I don’t think you can ask for more than that. My son is surrounded by love.”

Jack, whose full name is John Edward Thomas Moynahan, is Brady’s first child and the only kid he shares with his ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan. Brady’s wife, Gisele Bündchen, calls Jack her “bonus son.” In an interview with More magazine in 2011, Moynahan revealed that Brady wasn’t in the delivery room with her when she gave birth. “He was there on that day and came in afterwards. He certainly wasn’t holding my hand while I pushed,” she said.

A source told People in 2020 that Brady’s eldest son “loves football” and has already taken an interest in playing. “Tom and Jack are super tight,” the source said. “He loves football. Tom’s very active with him. He’s always spotted out with him. Parents have seen him playing football in the schoolyard with Jack and his classmates.”

In an interview on The Howard Stern Show in 2020, Brady opened up about whether he would want his children to be athletes like him. “I would never want for them to be ‘Tom Brady’s son’ playing football. I don’t like that at all,” he said. “But from a team, camaraderie, discipline, I think there’s something about contact sports that teaches you a lot about discipline, respect, mutual respect for your opponent that you don’t get in non-contact sports.”

Benjamin, whose is nicknamed Benny, is Brady’s second son and his first child with Bündchen. In an interview with Men’s Health in 2019, Brady said it was “hard” when Benny, whose full name is Benjamin Rein Brady, told him that he isn’t interested in sports, unlike his half-brother, Jack. “He wants to try hard, and he never wants to disappoint his dad,” Brady said. “Gisele kept saying to me, ‘Would you effing understand that your son is different? The reality is that Benny just likes different things. And it’s great because now I just have to go do what he wants to do. When we do that, we have the best time. He’s like, ‘OMG, Dad, you’re so funny.’ He loves joking, and I joke back.”

In an Instagram post for Benny’s 9th birthday in 2018, Brady described his middle child as a “beautiful, loving, sweet son.” “Our sweet Benny, 9 years ago you were born and what a blessing you have been. You are such a beautiful, loving, sweet son that we always knew you would be!” he wrote. “We are lucky parents to have you in our life and you always put a smile on everyone’s face when you are around! Vivian’s full name is Vivian Lake Brady. She is Brady’s only daughter and his second child with Bündchen. Vivian, who’s been described as Bündchen look-alike, recreated her model mom’s Vogue cover in January 2021. In an Instagram post shared by the model, Vivian posed on a horse exactly like her mom did for Vogue when she was 20 years old. In December 2020, Brady wished his daughter a happy 8th birthday on Instagram with a photo of her and Benny. “HBD 8th birthday Vivi! You are the sweetest little girl a daddy could ever hope for! You are so loved (and always protected by your big brothers)! ❤️” he wrote.

Gisele’s statement read: “With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve.” She continued, “The decision to end a marriage is never easy, but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best or Tom always. I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time. Thank you. Gisele.”

In an interview with Elle in 2022, Gisele opened up about how she took a break from her modeling career to support Tom and their children. “I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Brady]. I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams,” she said. “Seeing my children succeed and become the beautiful little humans that they are, seeing [Brady] succeed, and being fulfilled in his career—it makes me happy. Page Six reported in October 2022 that Tom and Gisele had hired divorce lawyers after their separation following a fight over Tom’s unretirement and decision to return to the NFL three months after he announced he had retried from football. “I never actually thought this argument would be the end of them, but it looks like it is,” a source told Page Six at the time. “I don’t think there will be any coming back now. They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be.”

A source also told People at the time that Tom was “trying to figure out what to do” after he learned Gisele had hired a divorce lawyer. A source also told Us Weekly at the time that Gisele—who was “living apart” from tom when she hired her divorce lawyer and had been “at odds” with her husband for months—was waiting for him to make a “big gesture” after he learned she was serious about divorce. “Gisele is waiting for Tom to make a big gesture of support to her,” the insider said. Gisele filed for divorce from Tom on October 28, 2022, in Florida, which Tom didn’t contest. TMZ reported at the time that Tom and Gisele reached an agreement on their shared property and child custody. Though the settlement will remain confidential, a source told People that the couple agreed on joint custody of their children. “The settlement is all worked out,”the insider said. “They’ve been working on the terms this whole time.” The source added, “They agreed to joint custody of the kids.”

Attorney Sue Moss with Chemtob Moss Forman & Beyda LLP, who is not connected to the case, also told People in October 2022 that Gisele and Tom’s different incomes could make their divorce complicated. “The big challenge for him is everything will be determined at the height of his income, because to get him to come back, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to come up with a lot of cash — and that is the baseline for determining the support in this case,” Moss said. “At the beginning, Gisele was earning more than him, and he kept on winning and his income got more and more substantial and it outgrew hers. And because of the timing, the case will be determined based upon the height of earnings.”

Divorce attorney Jacqueline Newman of Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein LLP, who is also not connected to the case, also told People that Tom and Gisele’s prenup has likely already determined what their finances will look like after their divorce. “People of this magnitude of wealth don’t generally get married without a document that’s going to dictate what’s going to happen if it doesn’t run its course,” Newman said. “My guess is that a lot of this is already worked out. So, there’s probably a prenuptial agreement that’s going to dictate a lot of this, but if there are some properties that were purchased while they were married — marital residences — there may be fights about that.” Newman continued, “There probably were assets that were acquired during the marriage, so there may be squabbles about that to say the least. That said, I think they are going to settle this, assuming they go forward with it — outside of the press.”

At the time they hired divorce lawyers, Tom and Gisele owned at least four properties: a house at the Yellowstone Resort in Montana, a $3.5 million apartment in New York City, a home in Costa Rica; and the $17 million mansion tin Miami’s Indian Creek Island. While Tom and Gisele’s finances are complicated, Newman told People at the time that custody of their children could be more if an issue. “It really does seem that [Gisele] has dedicated her life to these children,” Newman said. “I’m sure he is dedicated to the children, but he travels a lot. He’s not involved as much in the day to day. She may want more stability for them.” Newman continued, “The worst thing they could do is pull their kids through a custody battle.”

Tom and Gisele confirmed their divorce on October 28, 2022, with separate statements on their Instagram Stories. Tom’s statement read: “In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.”

His statement continued, “We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written. And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate what is to come in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you.”

Gisele’s statement read: “With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve.”

She continued, “The decision to end a marriage is never easy, but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best or Tom always. I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time. Thank you. Gisele.”

News of issues in Tom and Gisele’s relationship started in September 2022 when Page Six reported the couple was in a “fight” over the NFL player’s decision to unretire from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2022. (Tom announced his retirement from the NFL after 22 years in February 2022 before reversing that decision less than two months later.) “Tom and Gisele are in a fight right now,” a source told Page Six in September 2022. The insider added that there have been a “series of heated arguments” since Tom’s unretirement.

A second source explained that Gisele’s issue with Tom’s decision to unretire was the lack of time he would spend with their children: son Benjamin and daughter Vivian. Tom also shares son Jack with ex Bridget Moynahan. “There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids. They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, then he changed his mind,” the insider said. A third source added, “They have a fiery relationship. Gisele is a bit hot-headed — she has that Brazilian heat!” The insider, however, added that Tom has always been a “family man,” regardless of if he’s in the NFL or not. “He’s such a doting dad, and very much a family man,” the source said.

The publication’s second source also claimed that Gisele has been working more—she’s the face of a new Burberry campaign—since Tom’s decision to unretire. “It’s almost like Gisele was like, ‘Well, if you’re going to keep playing, so will I,’” the insider said. “She’s resentful that Tom is still the football superstar.”

A source also told People in September 2022 that Gisele was “frustrated” with Tom and had “been spending time away from” him. “Going back to Tampa after the retirement put a strain on the personal side of his life,” the source said. “Gisele is frustrated and sick of his career coming before their family, who has always supported him.” The magazine also reported that Tom and Gisele spending time apart from each other “has happened before” and that the two are “trying” to make their relationship work. “There is a point Gisele believes that enough is enough,” a second source said. “[She has] always been an amazing wife, totally supporting Tom and his career and bringing the kids aboard.

A third source told People that Gisele is “not a stay-at-home mom.” The insider continued, “She has been working all along. She’s in N.Y.C. right now working, and the kids are enrolled in school in Florida.” The source also reported that Tom and Gisele had a “happy summer together” before the 2022 NFL season and Gisele threw Tom “a big birthday party in Italy.” “He already announced his return to football this spring, so friends don’t understand why she’s upset now,” the insider said. “They’ve been very private about what’s really going on,” the source added. A fourth source also claimed to People that Gisele’s opinion on Tom’s unretirement had changed closer to NFL season. “It feels very different this year than last year,” the insider said. “She was excited to be here, we saw her around.”

A source also confirmed to Us Weekly in September 2022 that the  “tension” between Tom and Gisele was over his decision to unretire from the NFL. “Gisele was not happy when Tom un-retired from the NFL after such a short time,” the insider said. “There is tension between them.” The source added that Tom is “doing everything he can to make it up to” Gisele. “They’re working through things and trying to come out the other side,” the source said. A source also confirmed to People in September 2022 that there had been “a lot of tension” between Tom and Gisele since his decision to unretire. “There’s a lot of tension. She was so happy when he announced his retirement, and she wasn’t thrilled at all when he went back on that,” the insider said. “They’re hitting a rough patch. But I know they’re trying, or at least he’s trying, to figure it out and make it work. He wants to get through this and for things to get better.”

Page Six also reported in September 2022 that Gisele had moved out of her and Tom’s home in Tampa, Florida, and relocated to Costa Rica since their marital issues. “He’s very sad at the moment. Friends know they’ve had a serious disagreement this time,” a source said. “It seems that Gisele gets mad and says things like she’s leaving him, but in the past, they’ve always made up. But maybe this time it is more serious. He’s with the kids, and is just trying to be super dad.” Another source also told Page Six a week later that Gisele had briefly returned to Florida, but hadn’t moved back in with Tom yet. “Gisele isn’t back with Tom,” the insider said. “She flew back to Florida to be with her kids but hasn’t been to their home in Tampa.” The source continued, “Tom is still hoping they can reconcile. Gisele has told him she’s leaving him before, and they always made up when she cooled down.”

As many know, the celebrity breakups of 2022 come after a year of splits and divorces in 2021 from celebrity couples like Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello; Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid; and Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez. A source for People confirmed Malik and Hadid’s split on October 28, 2021. The breakup came after reports that Malik—who shares a daughter named Khai with Hadid—had “struck” then-girlfriend’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, in an argument. “They are not together right now. They are both good parents though,” the insider said. “They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.”

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and the Victoria’s Secret model filed their divorce papers on October 29, 2022, with both confirming on their Instagram profiles. The divorce is settled in Florida where the ex-couple resides. Tom posted an Instagram story with the caption, “In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve. “We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course painful, and difficult, like it is for so many people who go through the same thing everyday around the world. However, we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written. Gisele wrote a similar note on her Instagram story. She wrote, “With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. The couple’s impending divorce has been buzzing around ever since it was reported that the two were fighting over Tom’s decision to un-retire from the NFL. Tom and Gisele would have joint custody of their children: Benjamin Rein, 12, and Vivian Lake, 9. The quarterback also has one child with ex-Bridget Moynihan: John “Jack” Edward, 15, for whom Gisele acts as stepmom. A day before they filed for divorce, a source told Us Weekly on October 27, 2022, that Gisele gave Tom an ultimatum to choose their family or his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “Gisele told Tom either he leaves football to spend time with the family or she is gone for good,” the insider said. The source continued, “She doesn’t want him to continue to get injured and not be able to enjoy life in the future. She is doing it for her family.” A week before the report, Tom confirmed at a press conference for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that he doesn’t plan to retire from the NFL any time soon. “I love the sport, I love the teammates, and I want to go do a good job for this team like I always have,” he said. “So, no retirement in my future,” he said at the time.

After 14 years together, Tia Mowry filed for divorce from Cory Hardrict. The Sister, Sister alum posted on her Instagram about their decision to separate. She wrote, “I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways. These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children. I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.” In her divorce papers filed in September 30, 2022 and obtained by UsWeekly, she requested joint physical and legal custody of their children Cree, 11 and Cairo, 4. She asked for the judge to terminate spousal support as they have a prenup in place.

Simu Liu confirmed his breakup with Jade Bender two months after they went red carpet official. It’s not known when exactly the couple split, but the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star spoke about his mental health and the effect of the breakup at the tech conference Dreamforce last week in San Francisco, according to SFGate.com. “I experienced moments where I’m living my dream and it didn’t quite feel like I was where I needed to be with myself. I’m also going through a breakup. That’s probably also contributing to it but that’s okay, I’ll be okay.”

Simu was first linked to Jade Bender when they were spotted holding hands while leaving a West Hollywood restaurant together in June 2022. Late, they were seen together at a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! together in Los Angeles, where the Marvel actor talked to guest host Chelsea Handler in Jimmy Kimmel’s absence. The Bachelor‘s Clayton Echard and Susie Evans called it quits after six months following a dramatic ending to season 26 of the reality show. The pair announced in a joint statement on Friday, September 23, 2022, that their relationship had come to an end, Us Weekly reported. “With incredibly heavy hearts, we wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways. For anyone who has ever loved, knows this was a painful decision to make and not one taken lightly,” they wrote. “We understand that there will likely be a lot of questions about this decision — social media is definitely a highlight reel and much of our experiences together we have kept private as I’m sure most can understand. But we will share this — although this last year together has brought us so much joy and so many laughs, there has also been a significant amount of pain. We know no healthy relationship comes without its struggles, but we’ve realized that we were not prepared for the external forces that hindered our ability to not only heal as individuals but also as a couple. We both are focused on continuing to work on ourselves, so we can be the best version of ourselves.”

They continued: “This is not an easy time for either of us but we stand in support of each other and hope to see the other go on to find happiness and healing. Brittany Snow & Tyler Stanaland

Brittany Snow and Selling the O.C. star Tyler Stanaland have split. Brittany confirmed the breakup in an Instagram post on September 15, 2022. “After time and consideration, Tyler and I have made the difficult decision to separate. This decision was made with love and mutual respect for one another. We have realized we need to take some time and make sure we are each living our most fulfilling and authentic lives. We started this journey as best friends and our relationship will continue to be a priority not only for us but for our dog Charlie. We sincerely appreciate your support and ask for privacy as we navigate this new chapter,” she captioned a black-and-white photo of her and Tyler on the subway in New York City. Tyler shared the same photo and caption.

The split came after Tyler claimed that his Selling the O.C. co-star, Kayla Cardona, tried to kiss him in season 1 of the Netflix reality TV show. A source told People before Brittany and Tyler announced their split that the storyline “broke them.” “They had issues before, but this is the final straw. [Brittany] has been trying to find the best time to file for divorce” and maintain their privacy, the source said. “Brittany never wanted Tyler on the show but he was adamant. He wanted to make a name for himself on his own terms.” The insider continued, “They’re fully over. All of the girls [on the show] are obsessed with him. He’s been trying to be really respectful but it’s taken a toll on his marriage 100 percent.” TMZ, however, reported that Brittany and Tyler’s separation was due to distance as Brittany lives in Los Angeles while Tyler lives in Orange County. A source also denied to TMZ that Tyler and Brittany’s split was due to the cheating rumors and denied that Tyler was dating his Selling the O.C. star Alex Hall.

Emily Ratajkowski & Sebastian Bear-McClard

The news that Emily Ratajkowski and her husband of four years, Sebastian Bear-McClard, had split broke in July 2022. On September 9, Page Six reported the couple had filed for divorce with notes to say that it’s contested and certain things will need to be litigated. It comes after Sebastian was entangled in a cheating scandal. “Yeah, he cheated,” a source close to the model claimed to Page Six. “He’s a serial cheater. It’s gross. He’s a dog.” Three days before filing for divorce, Em took to TikTok to comment on another user’s contention that the “patriarchy does not give space for the existence of love.” Emily said this video resonated with her, saying that “as a recently single person who is thinking about dating and stuff—I’ve really seen that with my friends and with the conversations kind of around it.” Emily and Sebastian share one child together, their son Sylvester.

Alex Rodriguez & Kathryne Padgett

Alex Rodriguez and Kathryne Padgett broke up after almost being together for four months. A source close to the former Yankees player and the bodybuilder confirmed to UsWeekly on September 6, 2022, that the two went on their separate ways. “Alex and Kathryne split. There was no drama and it was amicable,” the source said. “They remain friends. They had fun the few months they dated, but it never got really serious. He’s doing just fine — getting into shape and focusing on family and his career.”

News broke of the two being together in June 2022. An insider told Us Weekly on June 1, 2022, that the two “haven’t put a title on their relationship yet and aren’t going around telling their friends they’re official,” and that they have been “hanging out for the last few months.” At the beginning of their relationship, the source added “They never get bored together and have a lot of fun,”  Along with being affectionate IRL, the two were “always leaving flirtatious comments on her IG. … He’s really into her.” The bodybuilder posted on Instagram a picture of her at the Oakland Coliseum on April 7, “Happy Opening Day ” A-Rod replied, “.” Their breakup also falls weeks after A-Rod’s ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez tied the knot with her former flame Ben Affleck. A-Rod and J-Lo broke up in April 2021 after almost four years of being together.

Leonardo DiCaprio & Camila Morrone

Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone have called it quits after more than four years together. People broke the news of the split on August 30, 2022. The couple, who had kept the details of their relationship very private, had been linked since December 2017 while vacationing in Aspen, Colorado. They made their first public appearance together when they sat in the front row at the Academy Awards in 2020. Sources told E! Online in December 2020 the couple was getting “serious” by moving in together.

A source close to the couple confirmed the breakup to People, however, no explanation for the breakup was given at the time and neither star had made statements. Social media was aflutter with speculation, though, with many joking that Camila had simply “aged out” for Leo—the model celebrated her 25th birthday in June 2022 and at 47, the Titanic star has a long history of dating women much younger than him. In fact, one Reddit user mapped out the ages of Leo’s past girlfriends showing that in the past 20 YEARS, he hasn’t dated anyone over the age of 25. He certainly has a type.

Sylvester Stallone & Jennifer Flavin

Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin are over after 25 years of marriage. Flavin filed for divorce from Stallone on August 19, 2022, in Palm Beach County, Florida. She filed for “for dissolution of marriage and other relief” from her ex-husband. Stallone and Flavin share three daughters: Scarlet, Sistine and Sophia. Stallone also had a son, Seargeoh, from his previous marriage to Sasha Czack. He also had a son Sage who died in 2012. He shared Sage with ex Starlin Wright.

“I love my family. We are amicably and privately addressing these personal issues,” Stallone said in a statement to People about his divorce from Flavin. Stallone and Flavin married in 1997. They started dating in 1988.

Iyanna McNeely & Jarett Jones

Iyanna McNeely and Jarrett Jones just announced their separation a year after appearing on Netflix’s Love is Blind. The duo posted on their Instagrams on August 17, 2022, that they have begun the process of separation. “After much thought, we’re saddened to share that we have separated and will begin the process of divorcing. While we have love for each other, our lives are going in different directions and that’s OK. Coming to this decision was far from easy and we will always wish each other the absolute best.” The statement continued, “We hope you all will give us some space as we close this chapter of our lives. Thank you to our close friends and family for loving us both through our experience. To the Love Is Blind family and Netflix, thank you for this unforgettable opportunity and support. Each of you brought overwhelming joy and love into our lives. This experience has taught us so much about ourselves, vulnerability and love. We don’t regret a single thing!

The two met in the second season of Love is Blind and instantly connected. Both from Chicago, Jones proposed to Iyanna after making the ultimate decision. “She’s a better fit for me because she’s everything that I needed,” Jones told Us Weekly. “On paper, me and Mal would’ve worked out. … I think with Iyanna — she was vastly different and I think those differences are things that I needed in my life to help me grow and be a better person and be a better husband.”

Florence Pugh just confirmed that she split with Zach Braff earlier this year after being together for 3 years. In a September 2022 Harper’s Baazar cover story, Pugh talks about the hard decision in keeping the split private for many months. “We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing, because it’s been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on,” Pugh says. “We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we’re not together. So we’ve done that. I automatically get a lumpy throat when I talk about it.”

Pugh and Braff were first linked in 2019 after working together on Braff’s short film for Adobe Creative Cloud, In the Time It Takes to Get There. In the film, Pugh played a Victorian “influencer” with Alicia Silverstone. We haven’t signed up for a reality TV show.” Pugh, however, is excited to for the release of A Good Person, which Braff wrote. “The movie that we made together genuinely was probably one of my most favorite experiences,” Pugh said of the film, set for release in 2023. “It felt like a very natural and easy thing to do.”

Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson have broken up. A source told E! News on August 5, 2022, that The Kardashians star and the Saturday Night Live alum had split after nine months of dating after deciding to just be friends. “They have a lot of love and respect for each other,” the source said. “But found that the long distance and their demanding schedules made it really difficult to maintain a relationship.”

Pete has been working in Australia on a movie, while Kim lives in Calabasas, California, with her four kids: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm, whom she shares with estranged husband, Kanye West. Kim filed for divorce from Kanye in February 2021 after almost six years of marriage. E! News’ source confirmed that Kim is still planning to finalize her divorce with Kanye despite her split from Pete.

Emily Ratajkowski & Sebastian Bear-McClard

It’s over. Emily Ratajkowski & Sebastian Bear-McClard have split after a four-year marriage. A source close to Ratajkowski confirmed the update to People on July 18, 2022, “They split recently. It was Em’s decision. She is doing okay. She is strong and focused on her son. She loves being a mom.” Page Six first speculated that the two split after Emrata was spotted without her wedding ring when she was doing errands. 

The couple was first linked together when they were spotted together during Valentine’s Day in 2018. They married that same month same month and the model announced it with an Instagram Story of the Bear-McClard kissing her cheek with a caption that read, “I got married today.” They share one child, a son named Sylvester Apollo Bear, who was born in 2021. The former couple first sparked rumors of a split after Thurston shared an Instagram Story seemingly addressing their breakup. “Statement: no we aren’t together,” she wrote in the Story, posted on June 21, 2022.

Hersey confirmed the news of their split with a statement of his own on Instagram. “I love being able to share special moments with you all—the funny ones. The happy ones. The Hannah Montana patriarch and his wife have been together since 1992 and share four kids: Miley, 29, Noah, 22, Trace, 33, Brandi, 34, and Braison, 27. The couple cited “irreconcilable differences” as a reason for the divorce in documents obtained by TMZ. 

The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer and his wife first filed for divorce in 2010 but Billy Ray withdrew the petition five months later. Just seven months after they were first seen together, a source confirmed to PEOPLE on February 17, 2022, that the “Drivers License” singer, 18, and the music video producer, 24, have separated. “They’ve been over for a bit now,” the insider told the site.

The musical pair were first linked in June 2021, when they were pictured getting cozy at the Space Jam 2 premiere party. Olivia introduced Adam as “her boyfriend,” and the two were “together the entire night,” insiders told E! A source told Us Weekly on January 11, 2022, that Hamlin—the daughter of actors Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin—and Booker, a contestant on Love Island season 4, had ended their relationship after two years together. They were first linked in April 2019. The split came after Booker spent the holidays with Hamlin’s family. “A few days later, they were broken up. They were so in love,” the insider said. The source also called the split “a shock to some of their closest friends.”

Reports of tension and unrest between Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bündchen have been circulating since his decision to un-retire from the NFL. A source confirmed to Us Weekly in September 2022 that there was “tension” between the couple after he reneged on the announcement he was hanging up his cleats for good. “Gisele was not happy when Tom un-retired from the NFL after such a short time,” the insider said. “There is tension between them.” The source added that Tom is “doing everything he can to make it up to” Gisele. “They’re working through things and trying to come out the other side,” the source said. Another source told People that Gisele is “frustrated” with Tom and “has been spending time away from” him. “Going back to Tampa after the retirement put a strain on the personal side of his life,” the source said. “Gisele is frustrated and sick of his career coming before their family, who has always supported him.”

Tom and Gisele met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend in 2006. “I think the one phone call that changed my life was my friend Ed, who called me one day and he said, ‘I have this girl and I think you should call her,’ ” Tom recalled to WSJ magazine in 2021 about how he was introduced to Gisele. “I ended up calling her and it ended up being the love of my life.” The two started dating soon after but hit a tough patch in February 2007 when Tom’s ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan, announced she was pregnant with his son. A source told the outlet, “I never actually thought this argument would be the end of them, but it looks like it is. I don’t think there will be any coming back now. They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be.” Another source told People that Tom is “trying to figure out what to do” after Gisele hired her own divorce lawyer and is finding one for himself.

Page Six reported that Gisele hired om Sasser, the managing partner of the law firm of Sasser, Cestero & Roy. The law firm is best known for representing Tiger Woods in his divorce from Elin Nordegren. An insider also told the outlet, “Things are very nasty between Tom and Gisele because of the lawyers. They are ready for a fight.” The outlet also disclosed that Tom and Gisele would have joint custody of their children: Benjamin Rein, 12, and Vivian Lake, 9. The quarterback also has one child with ex-Bridget Moynihan: John “Jack” Edward, 15, for whom Gisele acts as stepmom. Another source claimed that they are looking at dividing their assets, which includes a $26 million property portfolio. A source also told Us Weekly at the time that Gisele—who was “living apart” from Tom when she hired her divorce lawyer and had been “at odds” with her husband for months—was waiting for him to make a “big gesture” after he learned her thoughts about divorce were serious. “Gisele is waiting for Tom to make a big gesture of support to her,” the insider said.

Why are Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen divorcing? A day before they filed for divorce, a source told Us Weekly on October 27, 2022, that Gisele gave Tom an ultimatum to choose their family or his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “Gisele told Tom either he leaves football to spend time with the family or she is gone for good,” the insider said. The source continued, “She doesn’t want him to continue to get injured and not be able to enjoy life in the future. She is doing it for her family.” A week before the report, Tom confirmed at a press conference for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that he doesn’t plan to retire from the NFL any time soon. “I love the sport, I love the teammates, and I want to go do a good job for this team like I always have,” he said. “So, no retirement in my future,” he said at the time. Tom also discussed how his NFL career has affected his personal life in an episode on the Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray podcast at the time. “The reality is, you can really only be authentic to yourself,” he said. “I almost look at like a football season like you’re going away on deployment in the military. And it’s like, ‘Man, here I go again. There’s only one way to do it.’” He continued, “Whenever you may say, ‘Oh man, I want to make sure I spend a little more time doing this,’ your competitiveness takes over. And as much as you want to have this playful balance with the work balance, you’re going to end up doing exactly what you’ve always done. Which is why you are who you are. You’re going to go, ‘How do I get it done?’ You know, ‘What do I got to do to get it done?’”

He also confirmed in another episode of the podcast at the time that he doesn’t plan to quit the NFL after the 2022 season. “I’ve never quit on anything in my life,” Tom said. “I made a commitment to this team and I love this team and I love this organization.” Tom acknowledged there “was a retirement in the past,” however, “there’s no immediate retirement” in his future. “I’ve had nothing but a great experience here,” he said. “I want to keep fighting as hard as I can and I’m always trying to do better. I’m always trying to work hard and I’m always trying to commit more to the things that are important to me. And this team is very important to me and I certainly want to be the best I can be for them.”

According to a report by TMZ on October 7, 2022, Gisele had threatened to divorce Tom for years before their official separation. The insider claimed that all the arguments were over the same topic: football. Another source told People on October 7, 2022, “[The problems] are 10 years old,” the insider said of the couple. “This has been going on forever. This is nothing new to either of them.” Another source also told People at the time that Gisele is “done” with Tom and doesn’t think their relationship can be “repaired.” “She is done with their marriage,” an insider close to the model said. “She was upset about it for a long time and it’s still difficult, but she feels like she needs to move on. She doesn’t believe that her marriage can be repaired.” The source continued, “She is just trying to figure out her life. She doesn’t have much contact with Tom.” Other sources told Page Six that the two have separated before and that Gisele consulted a divorce attorney in 2015. One source said, “Tom and Gisele have separated before. Every couple of years they have a big fight and she has left Tom before, but she always came back. They always worked through things, and Tom was hopeful they would do it again this time.”

News of issues in Tom and Gisele’s relationship started in September 2022 when Page Six reported the couple was in a “fight” over the NFL player’s decision to unretire from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2022. (Tom announced his retirement from the NFL after 22 years in February 2022 before reversing that decision less than two months later.) “Tom and Gisele are in a fight right now,” a source told Page Six in September 2022. The insider added that there have been a “series of heated arguments” since Tom’s unretirement. A second source explained that Gisele’s issue with Tom’s decision to unretire is the lack of time he’ll spend with their children: son Benjamin and daughter Vivian. Tom also shares son Jack with ex Bridget Moynahan. “There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids. They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, then he changed his mind,” the insider said. A third source added, “They have a fiery relationship. Gisele is a bit hot-headed — she has that Brazilian heat!” The insider, however, added that Tom has always been a “family man,” regardless of if he’s in the NFL or not. “He’s such a doting dad, and very much a family man,” the source said.

The publication’s second source also claimed that Gisele has been working more—she’s currently the face of a new Burberry campaign—since Tom’s decision to unretire. “It’s almost like Gisele was like, ‘Well, if you’re going to keep playing, so will I,’” the insider said. “She’s resentful that Tom is still the football superstar.” A source also told People in September 2022 that Gisele was “frustrated” with Tom and had “been spending time away from” him. “Going back to Tampa after the retirement put a strain on the personal side of his life,” the source said. “Gisele is frustrated and sick of his career coming before their family, who has always supported him.” The magazine also reported that Tom and Gisele spending time apart from each other “has happened before” and that the two are “trying” to make their relationship work. “There is a point Gisele believes that enough is enough,” a second source said. “[She has] always been an amazing wife, totally supporting Tom and his career and bringing the kids aboard.

A third source told People that Gisele is “not a stay-at-home mom.” The insider continued, “She has been working all along. She’s in N.Y.C. right now working, and the kids are enrolled in school in Florida.” The source also reported that Tom and Gisele had a “happy summer together” before NFL season and Gisele threw Tom “a big birthday party in Italy.” “He already announced his return to football this spring, so friends don’t understand why she’s upset now,” the insider said. “They’ve been very private about what’s really going on,” the source added. A fourth source also claimed to People that Gisele’s opinion on Tom’s unretirement had changed closer to NFL season. “It feels very different this year than last year,” the insider said. “She was excited to be here, we saw her around.” A source also confirmed to Us Weekly in September 2022 that there was “tension” between Tom and Gisele after he unretired from the NFL. “Gisele was not happy when Tom un-retired from the NFL after such a short time,” the insider said. “There is tension between them.” The source added that Tom is “doing everything he can to make it up to” Gisele. “They’re working through things and trying to come out the other side,” the source said.

Page Six also reported in September 2022 that Gisele had moved out of her and Tom’s home in Tampa, Florida, and relocated to Costa Rica since their marital issues. “He’s very sad at the moment. Friends know they’ve had a serious disagreement this time,” a source said. “It seems that Gisele gets mad and says things like she’s leaving him, but in the past, they’ve always made up. But maybe this time it is more serious. He’s with the kids, and is just trying to be super dad.” Another source also told Page Six a week later that Gisele had returned to Florida, but hadn’t moved back in with Tom yet. “Gisele isn’t back with Tom,” the insider said. “She flew back to Florida to be with her kids but hasn’t been to their home in Tampa.” The source continued, “Tom is still hoping they can reconcile. Gisele has told him she’s leaving him before, and they always made up when she cooled down.”

What will Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s divorce settlement be? Attorney Sue Moss with Chemtob Moss Forman & Beyda LLP, who is not connected to the couple, also told People in October 2022 that Gisele and Tom’s different incomes could make their divorce complicated. “The big challenge for him is everything will be determined at the height of his income, because to get him to come back, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to come up with a lot of cash — and that is the baseline for determining the support in this case,” Moss said. “At the beginning, Gisele was earning more than him, and he kept on winning and his income got more and more substantial and it outgrew hers. And because of the timing, the case will be determined based upon the height of earnings.”

Divorce attorney Jacqueline Newman of Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein LLP, who is also not connected to the couple, also speculated to People that Gisele and Tom signed a prenuptial agreement because of their high net worths. “People of this magnitude of wealth don’t generally get married without a document that’s going to dictate what’s going to happen if it doesn’t run its course,” Newman said. “My guess is that a lot of this is already worked out. So, there’s probably a prenuptial agreement that’s going to dictate a lot of this, but if there are some properties that were purchased while they were married — marital residences — there may be fights about that.” Newman continued, “There probably were assets that were acquired during the marriage, so there may be squabbles about that to say the least. That said, I think they are going to settle this, assuming they go forward with it — outside of the press.”

At the time they hired divorce lawyers, Tom and Gisele owned at least four properties: a house at the Yellowstone Resort in Montana, a $3.5 million apartment in New York City, a home in Costa Rica; and the $17 million mansion tin Miami’s Indian Creek Island. While Tom and Gisele’s finances are complicated, Newman speculated at the time that custody of their children could be more if an issue. “It really does seem that [Gisele] has dedicated her life to these children,” Newman said. “I’m sure he is dedicated to the children, but he travels a lot. He’s not involved as much in the day to day. She may want more stability for them.” Newman continued, “The worst thing they could do is pull their kids through a custody battle.”

Gisele revealed how she felt about Tom’s decision to un-retire in an Elle interview, while upholding her supportive position for her husband. “I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom]. I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams,” she explained. “Seeing my children succeed and become the beautiful little humans that they are, seeing [Tom] succeed, and being fulfilled in his career—it makes me happy,” she continued. “At this point in my life, I feel like I’ve done a good job on that.” However, Gisele still wants Tom to be more available to her family. “Obviously, I have my concerns—this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” she said of her husband. “I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too.”

A source told Us Weekly on October 26, 2022, that Gisele was reportedly angry at Tom and gave him an ultimatum. “Gisele told Tom either he leaves football to spend time with the family or she is gone for good,” the source disclosed.  “She doesn’t want him to continue to get injured and not be able to enjoy life in the future. She is doing it for her family.”

On his Sirius XM show Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray, Jim Gray asked the Superbowl champion if the only time he had “peace and quiet” is when “some 320-pound guys are chasing you on the field.” Tom responded, “I hope that’s not the only place I find it because that’s a brutal way to go. But there is a simplicity to life when you’re in football season because there’s a rhythm to it. You know, we play every week, the schedule’s pretty much set.” He continued, “But, you know, I’m finding peace in other ways of life and just loving, you know, the time when my kids are getting a little bit older. And football and family has always been the most important thing to me so it’s a good time of year.”

After 20 years with the Patriots, Brady announced in March 2020 that he had signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to Pro Football Network, Brady signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers at the time for $50 million. The site also reports that Brady will receive another $9 million in incentives, though there was no signing bonus. As for how Brady’s contract breaks down, Pro Football Network reports that Brady will earn $15 million salary for each season, with $10 million roster bonuses. According to the site, Brady’s salary counts for 14.1 percent of the Buccaneers’ salary cap, which is estimated at more than $30 million for 2021. For his famous retirement-unretirement move, he moved on to a $25 million salary when he re-signed with the Bucs in 2022.

Tom announced his retirement from the NFL after playing for 22 years in February 2022 before reversing that decision less than two months later to rejoin the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He already has plans to work as a correspondent for Fox Sports whenever he retires. The spousal fights come after Tom took a short break during training in August 2022 to be with his family.

The original Black Panther‘s soundtrack was written and curated by Kendrick Lamar with artists featured like Schoolboy Q, Vince Staples, Jorja Smith, Travis Scott, the Weeknd and Khalid. The lead song “All The Stars” featuring SZA scored an Oscar nomination for original song, in addition to numerous Grammy nominations. In a press statement, Marvel’s collaboration “ushers in the next era of Rihanna’s iconic career.” The single will be the first solo single from the “Umbrella” singer since her album ANTI was released in 2016. The single will also be her first music released before Rihanna performs at the anticipated 2023 Super Bowl LVIII Half-Time Show in February 2023. The Black Panther 2 soundtrack, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Music From and Inspired By, will be available on November 4, 2022. The soundtrack album producers include Ryan Coogler, Ludwig Göransson, Archie Davis and Dave Jordan. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the second movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Black Panther series and the 30th film in the franchise overall. The movie—which is the final film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—follows Shuri (Letitia Wright), Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and other leaders of the Kingdom of Wakanda as they fight to protect their nation from from a threat from the undersea nation of Tlālōcān in the wake of the death of King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman.) Boseman—who played King T’Challa / Black Panther in four Marvel Cinematic Universe movies: 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, 2018’s Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame—died of colon cancer on August 28, 2020. He was 43 years old.

In an interview with Empire magazine in 2022, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained why the studio decided to not recast T’Challa after Boseman’s death.“It just felt like it was much too soon to recast,” he said. “Stan Lee always said that Marvel represents the world outside your window. And we had talked about how, as extraordinary and fantastical as our characters and stories are, there’s a relatable and human element to everything we do. The world is still processing the loss of Chad. And [director] Ryan [Coogler] poured that into the story.” He continued, “The conversations were entirely about, yes, ‘What do we do next?’ And how could the legacy of Chadwick — and what he had done to help Wakanda and the Black Panther become these incredible, aspirational, iconic ideas — continue? That’s what it was all about.”

Winston Duke, who plays M’Baku in the Black Panther movies, also explained in an interview on the “Jemele Hill is Unbothered” podcast in 2022 why he agreed with Feige’s decision to not recast Boseman as T’Challa. I think for this iteration of Black Panther, it’s very hard for me to comment on something like that because I’m of the mind that this is Chadwick’s role. Chadwick created this and Black Panther wouldn’t be the same without Chadwick Boseman who stood for the things that he stood for. When you cast a person, you’re also casting their experiences, you’re casting their politics, you’re casting all these things. Black Panther was heavily defined by the actor that did it, in my opinion,” he said.

According to a Reddit thread posted by user @KostisPat257, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever starts with a cold opening of a flashback to the Spanish invasion and colonization of the Americas, which shows a battle between the conquistadors and the people of Tlālōcān, an undersea Kingdom ruled by the family of Namor (Tenoch Huerta), the son of a human sea captain and the princess of Tlālōcān. In the the Marvel Comics, Namor is from Atlantis (which is referenced in the movie) instead of Tlālōcān.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever spoiler: Namor wants to kill Riri Williams

The thread also reports that Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne)—a teenage engineering student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who becomes Ironheart in Disney Plus’ 2023 show of the same name—is the main plot device for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Riri is introduced in a scene where she develops a device to find Vibranium in the ocean. Dr. Graham (Lake Bell, who also voiced Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff in Disney Plus’ What If…?) uses the device and somehow awakens Namor, who becomes angry and kills Graham’s team. He asks Wakanda for help to kill Riri next, but Wakanda refuses and protects Riri within its borders. The thread compares Riri’s role to America Chavez in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in how both characters are the main plot devices for their respective movies’ storylines. The thread also reports that Riri’s first Ironheart suit is made of spare car parts, but she receives a Vibranium suit in Wakanda by the end of the movie.

According to the thread, Namor is a mutant has the ability to fly from wings on his ankles, much like his character in the Marvel Comics. The thread also reports that Tepēyōllōtin, the Aztec God of Jaguars who made a cameo in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, appears in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and that Namor puts on a jaguar headdress.

According to the thread, Shuri re-creates the Heart-Shaped Herb, a plant that only grows in Wakanda that’s said to be a gift from the Panther God. In reality, the plant is a mutation from a Vibranium meteorite that crashed into earth. Still, to become the Black Panther, a warrior must defeat the current Black Panther and fight six of Wakanda’s greatest warriors. If they’re successful, they have the Heart-Shaped Herb applied to their body. Shuri’s re-creation of the Heart-Shaped Herb comes after she said she would do so in the 2020 Marvel book, The Wakanda Files: A Technological Exploration of the Avengers and Beyond, which includes a tie-in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Once Shuri takes the Heart-Shaped Herb, she expects to see her late older brother, T’Challa, in the ancestral plane, but instead she sees Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), who died in the first Black Panther movie and helps her become the next Black Panther.

The thread also claimed that Shuri was originally set to become the new queen of Wakanda after her mother died, but the end was rewritten after Letitia Wright’s anti-vaccination controversy. (Though M’Baku becomes king, Shuri is still the new Black Panther.) Wright came under fire in 2020 after she posted a YouTube video, in which the presenter expressed doubts over the COVID-19 vaccine and its origins. “if you don’t conform to popular opinions. but ask questions and think for yourself….you get cancelled,” Wright wrote in a since-deleted tweet with a laughing-face emoji. She followed the post with a second tweet: “my intention was not to hurt anyone, my ONLY intention of posting the video was it raised my concerns with what the vaccine contains and what we are putting in our bodies. Nothing else.” Wright also made clear that she wasn’t telling her followers to not take the COVID-19 vaccine, but wanted to express her concern “about what’s in it” She added, “I think it’s valid and fair to simply ask what’s in it.”

The Hollywood Reporter also reported in 2021 that Wright had expressed similar views over COVID-19 vaccines on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in Atlanta, Georgia, and that she had split from her team of representatives in the United States in December 2020 over the video she posted. Wright responded to the claims in an Instagram post at the time: “God bless you all. It saddens me to have to address the reports published by The Hollywood Reporter on October 6th 2021. The report spoke about my conduct on the set of black Panther 2. I honestly assert that this was completely untrue. Anyone who knows me or has worked with me, knows that I work incredibly hard at my craft & my main focus is always to do work that’s impactful and inspiring. That has been & will continue to be my only focus. I will continue to hold onto Gods hands, and onto the scripture of Isaiah 54:17. I continue to focus on my healing. Thank you for your prayers. And I continue to pray for Gods love, peace & joy for you all,” she wrote.

According to leaks posted by BGR, there is one post-credits scene in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which occurs in the mid credits and introduces T’Challa and Nakia’s son. Previous leaks claimed that the first post-credits scene featured Doctor Doom, while the second post-credits scene featured Nakia’s pregnancy. The previous leaks reported that Doctor Doom appeared in the first post-credits scene and reveals that he was the villain who orchestrated the war between Wakanda and Atlantis. Another rumor also claimed that Dr. Graham (Lake Bell) was secretly Lucia Von Bardas, Doctor Doom’s sidekick. Those leaks were disproven when sources reported that Doctor Doom makes no appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
