Summary of Changes

Hello @rebeccaellis, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request introduces minor, yet important, changes to the write_user_event.py sample. The primary purpose of these modifications is to enable the automated extraction of this code sample for inclusion in documentation, ensuring that the provided examples are always up-to-date and easily consumable by users.

Highlights

  • Documentation/Sample Preparation: Added [START] and [END] markers to the write_user_event.py sample file. These markers are crucial for automated documentation generation, allowing specific code blocks to be extracted and presented in official documentation.

Code Review

This pull request adds [START] and [END] region tags to the write_user_event.py sample script. The change is simple, but I've noted that the [END] tag's placement could be improved. My feedback suggests moving the tag to exclude the cleanup function call from the code sample, which will improve clarity for users viewing it in the documentation.

The [END retail_write_user_event] tag appears to be misplaced. The code snippet for writing an event should not include the purge_user_event() call, as that is a separate cleanup operation and can be confusing to users of the sample.

The purge_user_event() call is good for the script to clean up after itself, but it should be outside the region tags to keep the sample focused.

Please move the [END ...] tag to be before the purge_user_event() call. The end of the file should look like this:

write_user_event()
# [END retail_write_user_event]
purge_user_event(visitor_id)
