Kathryn Hahn is having quite an Emmy season. There is lots of buzz for her Disney WandaVision spinoff Agatha All Along, and everyone is trying to guess just which prominent marketing executive she based her role on in The Studio. Both shows have her in contention for Lead Actress and Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, respectively. Hahn is fearless in both, even shedding clothes for the first episode of Agatha, a show she tells me has a direct connection to another classic in the genre, Bewitched.
Hahn joins me for this week’s episode of my Deadline video series The Actor’s Side where we talk about both, and her hopes to continue with dueling series. When we taped this edition she was hopeful about second seasons for both and has since gotten word Seth Rogen’s hit comedy about a major studio has indeed been picked up for a second season. We talk about that show and why it is fun to play in the same sandbox as Rogen, Catherine O’Hara, Ike Barinholtz and all those guest-star cameos.
We also zero in on her amazing career, starting with the puppet kids show that changed everything for her in Cleveland. It was a long way from that to being dubbed by Slate as “the patron saint of sexed-up middle aged women,” but she’s done it in all sorts of genres including movies like How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days, Anchorman, The Holiday, The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Bad Moms and even playing Doc Ock in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Her work on TV series also include Mrs. Fletcher as a sex-crazed, porn-fueled divorcee; the acclaimed Tiny Beautiful Things; as Rabbi Raquel in Transparent; and of course WandaVision, the latter three bringing her both SAG and Emmy nominations. She’s already received Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations this year for Agatha.
We could go on and on and we will, so to listen to our conversation and get the “actor’s side” of things from Kathryn Hahn, watch the video above.
Join me every Wednesday during Emmy season for another episode of The Actor’s Side.
And her Emmy campaign has officially started!!!
No one campaigns as hard as she does.
Had the pleasure of working with Kathryn early in her career. Aside from being a wonderful actress, she’s a delightful person. Thrilled for her well deserved success.
