Jeff Bezos’ Children: All About His 4 Kids With Ex-Wife MacKenzie Scott

While much of the chatter around Jeff Bezos these days has been about his billionaire status, relationship with Lauren Sánchez, or his space company Blue Origin, there’s another role Bezos holds dear: he’s a dad of four.

Bezos shares four kids with ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, whom he married in 1993 and split from in 2019 after allegedly having an affair with Sánchez. Their high-profile divorce battle made Scott one of the richest women in the world after she was awarded upward of $38 billion in Amazon shares. Scott, who was one of Amazon’s first employees, married the entrepreneur years before he accumulated his wealth.

Still, the former couple’s divorce remained amicable. “If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again,” their statement announcing their divorce read. And their four children might have something to do with that closeness.

All About Jeff Bezos’ Children

Bezos is a father to four kids with Scott: three sons and a daughter, whom they adopted in China.

His oldest son is named Preston, but the names and birthdates of his three youngest children remain unknown. Here’s everything we know about the billionaire’s kids below:

Who Is Preston Bezos?

Preston Bezos is the oldest son of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. He was born in 2000.

According to multiple outlets, his name is a tribute to his family. The name Preston runs in his family and is not only Bezos’ middle name, but also the middle name of his great-grandfather and grandfather.

As for his schooling, Preston also reportedly continued family tradition. According to the Daily Mail, Preston attended the Ivy League school Princeton University, his mom and dad’s alma mater. After Bezos was pictured at MIT’s commencement ceremony in 2022, Preston was also rumored to have completed a humanities and engineering degree from MIT.

Over the years, Preston has attended major events, including the 2019 American Portrait Gala at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and the 2020 Oscars.

All About Bezos’ Younger Kids

Throughout the years, Bezos and Scott have kept their kids’ names and lives very much under wraps.

The only exception to that rule was at the Star Trek Beyond premiere in San Diego, California, on July 20, 2016, when they made their first and only public appearance as a family of five.

As for Bezos and Scott’s parenting, the Amazon founder made a rare comment about his parenting style at Summit LA in 2017.

Per CNBC, they wanted to raise their kids to be resourceful and had them using knives by age 4 and power tools by ages 7 or 8. “[Scott] would much rather have a kid with nine fingers than a resourceless kid,” he said, adding that it’s a “fantastic attitude about life.”

In 2018, he gushed about spending time with his kids in the mornings. “I like to putter in the mornings,” he said at the Economic Club, per CNBC. “I like to read the newspaper, I like to have coffee, I like to have breakfast with my kids before they go to school,” Bezos explained. “My puttering time is very important to me.”

In 2013, Scott also gave a brief glimpse into their lives in an interview with Vogue.

“We tried all sorts of things,” she said of her and Bezos’ parenting, adding that they didn’t take the easy route by hiring a “flock of nannies.” Scott then revealed they “intermittently experimented with homeschooling.”

“[We’ve tried] including off-season travel, kitchen-science experiments, chicken incubation, Mandarin lessons, the Singapore math program, and lots of clubs and sports with other neighborhood kids,” she listed.

Bezos Is Also a Stepdad

In addition to his four kids, Bezos is also a stepdad to his partner Sánchez’s three kids: Nikko, 24, Evan, 18, and Ella, 14.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal in 2023, Sánchez gushed about their blended family. “On a typical Saturday, we hang out, we have dinner with the kids, which is always fun because you never know where the conversation is going to go with this many kids,” she said.

“We are the Brady Bunch!” she then joked.
