PHN+ Q&A: Winger Trades, New Coach Meaning, and Rebuild Feelings

The Pittsburgh Penguins are sailing into waters many fans have not experienced or whose trauma responses have forced their memory to scrub just how difficult it was to watch a sinking team fighting to stay relevant. The 2024-25 Penguins rebuild is quite different from the last attempt two decades ago, but a new coach, potential trades, and draft picks available have some PHN+ subscribers eager for the summer.
The crowing by some folks who seemingly hate media people was rather amusing. You mean we didn’t have a minute-by-minute update on general manager Kyle Dubas’s thinking? You mean Dubas kept things from the media?
Yep. Dan Muse.
And with the choice came optimism, anger, and curiosity. The latter is probably in most abundance because even after we went deeper into Muse’s career and what coaches close to him had to say about his style and philosophy, there’s still a lot of unanswered questions, not the least of which is how Muse’s arrival will affect the Penguins trade activity and if it changes Erik Karlsson’s status.
We had far too many questions to answer all of them. I apologize in advance, but I’ll send some email replies, too. It’s the latest PHN+ subscriber Q&A.
