If you're like most people, you're probably planning to spend the day with loved ones or use the holiday as a well-deserved break to kick back and relax.

Whatever your annual Turkey Day tradition is, it probably includes some type of Thanksgiving dinner. As everyone knows, it's no small feat to put together a feast, and if you just realized you forgot a major ingredient like, say, the turkey, you may be wondering what stores are open on Thanksgiving this year.

Even if you didn't forget to pick up an essential at the store ahead of the November holiday and would simply like to get a jumpstart on your Christmas shopping, it's good to know what retailers are open for business.

To ensure you don't waste any time visiting closed stores, see below for a list of retailers, grocers and convenience stores open on Thanksgiving Day 2024.

Note that state law in Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island prohibits most stores from opening on Thanksgiving, which means a majority of retailers and grocers will be closed in those states, even if they're open in others.
