Free, No-commitment Estimates

While the ability to customize your system is great, Link Interactive does require a contract commitment—up to three years—which may be restrictive for those looking for month-to-month flexibility. Additionally, the absence of a self-monitoring option means professional monitoring is mandatory, which could add to the cost if you prefer handling alerts on your own.

Although the DIY installation is straightforward, there’s no option for professional setup, so those uncomfortable with tech may need to spend extra time ensuring everything is installed correctly. Lastly, while the equipment selection is solid, the overall cost of devices is on the higher side compared to competitors, potentially making it a pricier investment for those looking for a budget-friendly solution.

The Fine Print

Link Interactive will give you one month free if you pay for an entire year at one time. It also has  a referral program where you and your referral can receive one month free.

There are no early cancellation fees, but should you want to cancel your service, you’re still expected to fulfill the terms of the contract.

Video Storage

Link doesn’t offer video storage, but it does have on-demand recording, scheduled recording and object-activated recording. Video footage is viewable through Alarm.com. You can also receive video text alerts or emails at customizable times and dates.

Link Interactive Vs. Ring

Link Interactive and Ring both offer DIY installation and smart home integration, but the approaches differ. Link Interactive stands out for its customizable equipment options and comprehensive monitoring plans, making it ideal for those wanting a tailored, contract-based system.

In contrast, Ring offers more affordable, easy-to-install packages without requiring a contract, focusing on self-monitoring and smart doorbells. However, to unlock full features like video recording, Ring requires a subscription. The choice between the two comes down to whether you prefer Link’s flexibility and professional monitoring or Ring’s budget-friendly, no-contract approach.

Link Interactive Vs. Vivint

Link Interactive and Vivint cater to different types of homeowners looking for security and smart home integration. If you’re a DIY fan who prefers flexibility, Link Interactive gives you the freedom to pick your components and handle the installation yourself—no contracts, just simple customization. On the flip side, Vivint shines with its cutting-edge technology and professional installation, ensuring your system is expertly set up. But this comes with a higher price tag, longer-term contracts and less customization.

While Link Interactive keeps things straightforward and budget-friendly, Vivint offers a high-end, all-in-one smart security experience. Your choice boils down to your need for flexibility versus top-tier tech.

Link Interactive reviews paint a mixed picture. Some customers are very satisfied, particularly those who found the setup process straightforward and appreciated being able to do everything online without needing phone support.

However, the company has its share of detractors as well. Complaints often center around malfunctioning equipment, poor service and a lack of support.

The consensus seems to be that while some customers enjoy the DIY flexibility and customer service, others find equipment reliability and support to be lacking. Overall, the 1.3-star rating on Trustpilot as of this writing suggests that the company’s service and product quality may vary significantly based on individual experiences.

If you’re comfortable with smart home devices and technology, Link Interactive could be a good choice for you because it allows you the freedom to customize your home security system. However, Link doesn’t offer video storage, which could be a deal breaker for some. Link does offer affordable monitoring rates though some reviews find its equipment has higher costs than competitors. It also requires a contract of one, two or three years, which might not be a great option for renters.
