Zoom Webinars, like Zoom Meetings, are easy to set up and intuitive to use during meetings. The low-tier Zoom Webinars plan is one of the more cost-effective options for simple webinars. It includes all the engagement tools I look for when testing webinar software: whiteboards for drawing, breakout rooms to encourage face-to-face discussion, polls to gather data and quizzes to see what each participant has retained. Low-tier plans even include custom registration forms, automated emails and reminders and the ability to get paid through PayPal.

The webinar software’s capacity is also incomparable. While many alternatives cap webinars at 1,000, Zoom can host 10,000-plus participants. This is why I consider it an unparalleled option for companies seeking to host massive audiences. Zoom also offers higher-tier plans for multi-session events and a lobby for attendees to hang out and network.

Zoom is a well-rounded choice for most webinar use cases, whether you’re looking for something simple or hosting a large audience.

Testing Insights

While setting up webinars with other platforms sometimes felt tedious and time-consuming, it was a breeze with Zoom. I enjoyed navigating the modern-feeling website. During events, Zoom displayed all of the main controls at the bottom of the screen for easy access. It felt like a slightly more collaborative, one-sided version of Zoom Meetings.

Zoho Meeting webinars offer a great combination of simplicity and strong features. I noticed it lacks some of Zoom’s collaboration tools—like quizzes and breakout rooms—but still includes live polls, Q&As and virtual backgrounds. I enjoyed that it let me create custom registration forms and track the page or email that users join from, which helps evaluate marketing channels.

While nearly all competitors place a cap on webinar time limits, Zoho has no time limit. This means you can run multiple webinars for an unlimited period. You can also leave or exit webinars and return to them later, enabling you to host multiple sessions with the same join link.

Zoho also has the best pricing of any platform on our list. You can customize pricing by the number of attendees you expect, with greater flexibility and lower costs than any other provider. It’s a good option for companies prioritizing price, who don’t need to collect payment for webinars and don’t mind middle-of-the-road interactive features.

Testing Insights

While setting up a Zoho meeting felt a bit drawn out, the step-by-step process made it easy and ensured I didn’t miss any steps: setting up emails, registration forms, co-organizers, etc. During events, it was easy to use the polls, chat and Q&A features, although the live webinar display felt outdated compared to Zoom and some other alternatives.

While costlier than average, ClickMeeting is a comprehensive webinar platform with solid features for attendee engagement, marketing, automated communication and event promotion. It enabled me to create custom landing pages and registration processes, and ClickMeeting also made it easy for me to share and promote my events on social media.

ClickMeeting makes meetings more official with advanced features like ticketing and certificates of attendance, which you can automatically trigger to send to attendees afterward. It also has sophisticated features for paid events. All paid ClickMeeting plans let you accept payment through Stripe or PayPal—many alternative providers only offer one or the other. You can provide customers with discount codes or accept donations in the middle of an event.

It is worth the relatively high cost if you’re concerned about marketing webinars, if you want them to feel official for attendees or if you plan to charge for them.

While the design of ClickMeeting’s website felt outdated and the setup process felt long, the process of creating the webinar was extensive. Beyond its solid interactive tools, BigMarker’s webinars include many customizable features for marketing and promotion. You can customize the design and content for multiple email types, including invitations, sign-up confirmations, pre-event reminders, follow-ups and post-event surveys.

As you move into the higher tiers, you can customize more aspects of your webinar. While many alternatives offer a stock landing page design, I was impressed that BigMarker gives you 15 templates or a ground-up design tool to create your landing pages from scratch. You can also embed registration links—or your webinar itself—into your website, which is helpful if you already have traffic on certain pages.

While BigMarker’s low-tier plan includes solid options for emails, registration and in-event pop-up offers, most of the standout features come with the higher-tier plans. But if you want complete customization for webinar landing pages and attendee registration, it’s worth going for one of these higher-tier plans.

BigMarker had a ton of available tools during setup and in the meetings. The setup menu let me customize everything, starting with the design of landing pages, emails and the webinar itself. I could customize which options I wanted to provide attendees regarding ticketing and price, dial-in and conference calling options and Q&A capabilities. BigMarker might be too much if you’re looking for simple, easy-to-use webinars. But it’s a good choice if you want control over every aspect of your webinar.

Livestorm is a webinar platform with a comfortable, modern dashboard that allows you to customize virtually every aspect of your webinar. Many alternative platforms give you preset designs for emails, registration forms, session branding and the webinar room itself. But I was excited to see that Livestorm’s dashboard lets you customize these from scratch. Most notably, you can choose what the room display looks like for the host and attendees: which engagement tools display on-screen in the left-hand menu and where they go.

It also offers unique webinar restream capabilities that allow people to watch the webinar—or particular parts—afterward if they missed it. While most alternatives only let you stream to one platform at a time, Livestorm’s restreaming add-on lets you stream live to multiple platforms at once, including YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter). This can help you use social media to reach a wider audience that goes beyond your attendee limit.

Livestorm offers free webinars with an ultra-low 20-minute time limit, which is a good option to test out the setup dashboard and see if you like it. The paid plans are significantly pricier than options like Zoom or Zoho, so I’d only recommend it if you plan to take advantage of the option to stream to multiple platforms simultaneously.

Testing Insights

My favorite part about Livestorm was its setup dashboard. It felt modern and easily navigable, with tabs for all the customizable marketing and display options. Livestorm’s contact cards also made it easier for me to drill into particular attendees’ or leads’ information. The in-meeting display was fine and user-friendly but felt pretty standard.

I found Webex’s webinar platform to be one of the simpler options, with basic registration forms, landing pages and automated emails. This simplicity makes it user-friendly and a great choice for companies mainly concerned with attendee engagement rather than marketing.

All Webex plans automatically include Slido, a presentation tool for engaging polls and surveys. I enjoyed how Slido lets you poll your webinar audience in multiple formats—including multiple choice, word clouds, open text, rankings, ratings, surveys and quizzes. You can view poll results live, with the option to display them publicly. I found the polls a great way to get the audience involved, making the webinars more entertaining. They can also elicit feedback, gather data about your attendees and help you make informed business decisions.

The current price is $68.75 for 1,000 attendees, which is an excellent deal. If you’re okay with basic registration and marketing tools and are more concerned with engaging your audience using polls, I’d recommend Webex as a great value.

I liked the simplicity of using Webex Webinars. The setup process, and the webinar itself, felt more like video conferencing software than most other webinar platforms because I didn’t have to deal with so many settings. GoTo Webinar offers a good balance of simplicity and customization. It lacks the comprehensive marketing and promotional tools offered by ClickMeeting, Livestorm and BigMarker, but I still appreciated GoTo’s customizable features. You can design registration pages and email campaigns to attract and source leads and use Stripe to charge attendees for paid events.

During events, GoTo offers an above-average breadth of collaboration tools—not just polls, handouts and Q&As, but breakout rooms and live captions. Post-meeting, AI generates an automatic summary with highlights and key action items from the event. I found GoTo was the only platform that lets you edit and trim your meeting recordings, making it easy to share them on your GoTo page, website, social media platform or YouTube.

While the Lite plan starts at $59 monthly per user, it lacks most of the features that make GoTo Webinar special and is of lesser value than alternatives like Webex, Zoom and Zoho. GoTo’s Pro plan has the most unique offerings, but at $249 monthly per host for 1,000 attendees, I’d only suggest it if you plan to utilize the video editing and sharing tools.

GoTo Webinar’s setup menu and in-meeting controls were user-friendly but felt a little basic and plain. Setting up webinars, landing pages and emails was quick because there wasn’t much to customize—just the preset design that GoTo provided me with. Demio’s AI Assistant stood out especially to me since it helps you moderate webinars during and after the event. The chat moderator responds to participant questions in real time, providing information, explaining topics and giving context for what you’re talking about. You can customize your AI moderator’s name, avatar and responsibilities. It also identifies the trends, topics and questions that are most popular among participants, bringing these items to your attention so it’s easier for you to keep a pulse on what your attendees are thinking.

I found that Demio’s engagement analytics provide unique feedback beyond that of other providers. The software tracks not only attendance but participant engagement and focus time during webinars, providing averages and graphs that display how attentive participants were at each point during the meeting. As expected, the main thing that stood out to me when using Demio was the analytics. The analytics dashboards displayed visually appealing graphs with multiple layers of insights. I could track registration trends over time and in-meeting audience engagement by the minute. The entire dashboard felt bright and modern, making some alternatives seem outdated and bland. When using GetResponse, I was overwhelmed by how many features the software included beyond webinars. It would take weeks to get the hang of everything, such as the website building and email marketing tools. Here are a few of the most valuable webinar features:

  • Meeting capacity. This is the maximum number of attendees you can host in a meeting at once. Some plans let you begin with as few as 25 attendees, while some Enterprise options support up to 10,000 guests.
  • Time limit. Some free and low-tier plans limit you to an hour for webinar sessions, while some let you host events that run up to 24 hours. This feature is worthwhile if you plan to host marathon-type events that run all day with multiple speakers.

Though its features are relatively simple, Zoho’s pricing is significantly cheaper than most other providers on the list. Zoom and Webex are also a good value, especially if you plan to capitalize on the advanced polling capabilities. While GetResponse is relatively expensive, it’s a solid value if you plan to utilize all the marketing and web-design features it includes in addition to webinars.

Marketing and Promotion Tools

Most webinar software providers include capabilities that help you market and promote your virtual event. For example, most platforms enable you to automate emails that send confirmations, reminders and post-event follow-ups. Some platforms let you create and sell tickets, offer discounts and promo codes or easily share your event on social media.

GetResponse is the most comprehensive marketing platform on our list, with in-depth email and SMS texting automations that promote your webinar and your business. ClickMeeting also has an excellent variety of marketing and promotion tools for a decent per-attendee rate.

User Experience

Beyond the features themselves, you need a user-friendly webinar platform. It should be a straightforward and efficient process for you to create webinars, set up marketing tools and emails, get paid, track registration and start the event. During events, you should enjoy the live-meeting display and have easy access to all the controls you need to engage a live audience. Live streaming should also be a harmonious and hassle-free process that doesn’t distract you from hosting.

Zoom offered the best user experience overall, with a super-intuitive setup and a pleasant interface. However, WebinarJam stood out with exceptionally clear HD video display. Demio and Livestorm offer step-by-step event setup menus that ensure you check all your boxes when setting up and marketing your webinar.
